The root,
not the symptom.
We ask a different question: not just "what's wrong," but "why is this happening — and what does your body need?"
What Is Functional Medicine?

A patient-centered path to real answers

Functional medicine is a personalized model of care for chronic conditions and wellness optimization. Instead of chasing symptoms, it seeks the underlying causes — and what we can do to support your body to thrive.

That means spending real time listening to your history and identifying triggers: nutrition, stress, toxins, allergens, genetics, and your microbiome — the bacteria living in and on your body.

  • Individualized protocols built from your lab findings and detailed interpretations
  • Targeted supplement and lifestyle recommendations
  • A personalized nutrition outline designed for your body

Best suited for the motivated person ready to take charge of their health journey.

This is not a quick fix. Lasting results take sustainable change & real commitment — and that’s exactly why this approach works.

Choosing a Practitioner

Not all functional medicine is the same

“Functional medicine” has become a popular term — and it isn’t a protected one. Anyone can advertise it, with or without formal training in it. That makes choosing well genuinely hard. So here’s what this work actually requires, and what’s worth asking before you commit to anyone — including me.

The training behind Total Wellness

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)A doctorate in pharmacology, biochemistry, and therapeutics — built on a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. It’s the foundation for reading complex lab panels and understanding how supplements, medications, and your physiology interact with one another.
  • Applied Functional Medicine CertificationA three-year program at the School of Applied Functional Medicine, structured in three levels — each requiring a competency exam to advance. Certification was awarded only after passing a final examined patient case: proof of applying the work with a real person, not just recalling it.

  • ADCES Lifestyle CoachCertified through the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists in the Prevent T2 Lifestyle Change Program — structured training in sustainable behavior change.
Certifications & Training

Questions worth asking anyone

  • What specific functional medicine training do you have, and who certified it?
  • Who interprets my lab results — and what qualifies them to do it?
  • How much time do I actually get with the practitioner, not staff?
  • Do you sell the supplements you recommend?
  • What support do I have between appointments?

Ask me every one of these on your discovery call. I’d rather you choose carefully than choose quickly.

What Clients Notice

The feedback I hear most

Three things come up again and again in follow-ups and check-ins — and they’re rarely about a supplement or a test result.

01

Their labs finally got explained

Most people arrive having been told their results look normal. What they remember is sitting down and having someone walk them through what the numbers actually mean for them.

02

They understood the why

Not just what to take or what to cut out, but how the pieces of their history connect — and why their body has been responding the way it has.

03

They weren’t rushed

A first visit is a full hour, and follow-ups are built into the program. Time to be heard is the part people mention most often.

Individual experiences vary. Total Wellness does not diagnose or treat disease, and results are not guaranteed.

Care rooted in science & real listening

Jade holds a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, and earned her doctorate — a Doctor of Pharmacy — from Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy in 2013. She then completed a three-year program at the School of Applied Functional Medicine, passing competency exams at each level and a final examined patient case to earn her Applied Functional Medicine Certification. She also holds an ADCES Lifestyle Coach certificate.

As a health consultant, Jade focuses on promoting health and optimal function using natural, non-invasive methods — nutrition, herbs, supplements, stress management, and lifestyle change — to address the root causes of dis-ease. Her work is designed to complement, not replace, the care of your medical doctor.
